چکیده

In this work we study the persistent luminescence properties of europium-doped alkaline earth silicon oxynitrides (CaSi2O2N2, SrSi2O2N2 and BaSi2O2N2). All compounds show afterglow emission, with an emission spectrum which is similar to the steady state photoluminescence. The afterglow decay time for BaSi2O2N2:Eu and SrSi2O2N2:Eu is about 50 and 100 minutes respectively, while for CaSi2O2N2:Eu the afterglow intensity is very low. Although the persistent luminescence can be induced by ultraviolet light (250-300 nm) in all three phosphors, only for BaSi2O2N2:Eu low energy radiation (350-500 nm) allows filling of the traps responsible for the afterglow. ©2012 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: (160.2900) Optical storage materials; (160.5690) Rare-earth-doped materials; (170.6280) Spectroscopy, fluorescence and luminescence; (160.2540) Fluorescent and luminescent materials; (250.5230) Photoluminescence. Luminescent Afterglow Behavior in the M2Si5N8: Eu Family (M = Ca, Sr, Ba)

Persistent luminescent materials are able to emit light for hours after being excited. The majority of persistent phosphors emit in the blue or green region of the visible spectrum. Orange- or red-emitting phosphors, strongly desired for emergency signage and medical imaging, are scarce. We prepared the nitrido-silicates Ca₂Si₅N₈:Eu (orange), Sr₂Si₅N₈:Eu (reddish), Ba₂Si₅N₈:Eu (yellowish orange...

Feature issue introduction: persistent and photostimulable phosphors – an established research field with clear challenges ahead

Persistent phosphors have the ability to emit light long after the excitation has ended, typically by using thermal energy to liberate previously trapped charges. Alternatively, also photons can be used for the detrapping, leading to optically stimulated luminescence (OSL). This particular field of phosphor research has seen a strong expansion over the past two decades, with a steady growth of ...

Insight the Luminescence Properties of AlON: Eu, Mg Phosphor under VUV Excitation

Owing to high quantum efficiency, adjustable composition and antioxidation properties of oxynitride phosphors, extensive investigations have focused on their photoluminescence properties under low-energy light excitation (UV or blue light). However, the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) luminescence properties of oxynitride phosphors are rarely researched. Present work studies the structure and VUV lumi...

The Ba2P2O7:Tb , Eu phosphors were synthesized by a high temperature solid-state reaction method in air atmosphere and their crystal structures, lifetime, luminescence properties, and energy transfer mechanism were investigated in detail. A series of characteristic emissions of Ba2P2O7:Tb , Eu phosphors were observed in the emission spectra at around 545 nm, 593 nm, and 613 nm when excited at 3...
